Growing the use of Meaningful Patient/Family Engagement in Waterloo Wellington
On May 26, 2015 the Waterloo Wellington LHIN, in partnership with The Change Foundation, hosted an event focused on developing tools and strategies for increasing the use of meaningful patient and family engagement to improve the experience our residents have in the health system and ultimately achieve better health in our community.
The day included speakers from Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, The Change Foundation, CMHA, Waterloo Regional Police Services and the Waterloo Wellington LHIN as well as a family/patient panel with staff and patients from Guelph Community Health Centre, Mount Forest Family Health Team, and Stonehenge Therapeutic Community sharing their stories of how engagement has improved their health experience.
Overlap Associates presented an empathy mapping exercise that provided tools for identifying an opportunity for improvement and considering what patients and think, see, hear, say, do and feel while they are experiencing care.
The day was a great success. We thank everyone who attended and are excited about the opportunity to continue engaging our residents and working towards a fully integrated, high-quality health system for everyone in Waterloo Wellington.
Below are some presentations and resources from the day. More will be posted as it becomes available.
